"I
am going to tell you what will happen later in the time of
wrath, because the vision concerns the appointed time of the
end...A king will arise, Insolent and skilled in
intrigue...He |
|
will destroy mighty men and the holy people”
(Daniel 8:19-23). |
After hearing this prophecy, Daniel
commented, “I, Daniel, was exhausted
and lay ill for several days...I was appalled by the vision; it was
beyond understanding” (Daniel 8:27)
The prophecies regarding this King are expanded
upon within the eleventh chapter of Daniel. His reign begins in
verse 21 and ends at verse 45. He is referred to as the “King of the
North”. His identity is synonymous with the “anti-Christ” and “666”.
Pope John Paul II matches a specific profile generated within the
prophetic records of Daniel and Revelation, and the “Time of Trouble
such as never was” (also known as the Great Tribulation) shall
commence shortly after the time of his death, for it is written;
"He shall come to his end, and none
shall help him...and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never
was since there was a nation" (See Daniel 11:45 to Daniel 12:1).
Pope John Paul II is the Methuselah of the
last days. Methuselah was the grandfather of Noah. His name meant -
When he dies, Judgment shall come
- And in the very year of Methuselah’s death, the great flood
occurred, destroying all of mankind with the exception of Noah and
his family. And so likewise, Bible prophecy declares that the death
of the King of the North coincides with the coming of the “Time of
Trouble”, a catastrophe far worse than that of Noah's flood!
But before I point out a few of the prophecies
that connect Pope John Paul II to the King of the North, I want to
present a unique admonition which came from the greatest prophet of
all; Jesus Christ. Our Lord
issued a special warning as he looked far beyond the beginning of
his newly founded church saying,
"Who is a faithful, sensible servant, to whom the master can give
the responsibility of managing his household and feeding his family”
(Matthew 24:45)? Jesus knew that it was God’s plan that He
return to heaven. He left his flock in care of His trusted servant
(the church), which over the years, became the Roman Catholic
Church.
“If
the servant is evil and...begins oppressing the other servants,
partying, and getting drunk-- the master will return unannounced and
unexpected. He will tear the servant apart and banish him...In that
place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew
24:49-51).
God
compares those who maintain an everlasting relationship with Him not
only as his servants, He sees them as His beautiful bride. Like a
noble queen, His church promised to be faithful and to care for His
family until the day they shall be reunited.
“And I John
saw...new Jerusalem, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband"
(Revelation 21:2).
Notice the heartfelt
connection God has with his chosen people.
"I have likened the
daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman" (Jeremiah 6:2).
But instead of a
wife awaiting the joyful reunion of her husband, the prophet was
allowed to view a shameful scene. A married woman who becomes a
prostitute while her husband is away! Although she enjoys her
prestigious connection with the King of Heaven, she is not anxious
for His return,
“With her the kings
of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth
were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries” (Revelation 17:2).
She is clueless as
to the reality of her marital condition, for she thinks her Divine
partner holds her in high esteem,
"In her heart she
boasts, 'I sit as queen; I am not a widow" (Revelation 18:7).
Instead of a
name denoting |
|
an honorable relationship between a man and
wife, God, in His rage, places a name upon the whore,
"MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE
MOTHER OF HARLOTS" (Revelation 17:5). "Come forth, flee from
the
land of
the north... that dwellest
with the daughter of
Babylon"
(Zechariah 2:6)
Saint Peter,
when writing to believers from Rome, did not hesitate to declare
that Babylon represented Rome.
The church that is
at Babylon...saluteth you” (1 Peter 5:13).
Although the Papacy can rightly boast that her lineage can be traced
back to Saint Peter, history validates that she played the part of
an unfaithful servant. While her divine husband was away on
business, she said in her heart, “My Lord delays his coming” and
began to corrupt herself while oppressing those of her household.
"I saw that the
woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who
bore testimony to Jesus" (Revelation 17:6).
Symbolically, the land of the North
represents Babylon and Babylon represents Rome! God predicted where
the whore conducts her seductive business,
"The seven heads
are seven hills on which the woman sits" (Revelation 17:9).
"It is within the city of
Rome, called
the city of seven hills, that the entire area of Vatican
State proper is now confined" (The Catholic Encyclopedia, Thomas
Nelson, 1976).
For centuries, warnings had been given to her.
Yet this only made her angry. In her wrath she shed more blood than
any other Kingdom in history. Finally, like the evil servant who was
torn and banished, the Papal head was severed from Europe. In 1798,
the French empire entered Rome and ordered that the Pope should be
taken captive and he died in exile. Since that time, the Papacy has
been unable to hold any spiritual authority over her highly
treasured European domain. “He that
leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity (Revelation 13:10).
For over 200 years, Europe has survived
without one of its heads -The spiritual guardianship of the Vatican!
- But after years of isolation, God has allowed the wounded church
to reemerge from the dark place of her captivity.
“One of the heads of the beast
seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been
healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast”
(Revelation 13:3). The process of healing began in 1929 when
the Vatican was set up as a independent nation. The nations of earth
recognize her as “The Holy See” and she is steadily gaining back her
power today.
Prophecy foretells that her power would be
completely restored during the reign of the sixth king,
“And there are seven kings: five are
fallen,
and one is, and the other is
not yet come” (Revelation 17:10). Five Popes have completed
their reign in the 75 years since sovereignty has been returned to
the Papacy. Pope John Paul II is the sixth to rise to power. This is
significant, for it is the sixth King that shall become the great
persecutor of last days.
Daniel was shown that the “man of sin” would
take the place of a ruler destroyed after being in power for only a
few days. “Then shall stand up in
his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom:
but within few
days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle”
(Daniel 11:20). This ruler
matches the profile of Pope John Paul I. After setting forth to make
sweeping changes to correct financial corruption within the Papacy,
he was only able to hold his position for 34 days. John Paul I died
in a shroud of mystery that persists to this day.
“Babylon the
great is fallen,
Is fallen”
(Revelation 14:8).
Babylon (the Papal Church) has fallen once in her past. Prophecy
predicts she will fall again through the leadership of John Paul II.
Today, God has a very clear course for you to follow, “Come
out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and
that ye receive not of her plagues” (Revelation 14:10).
