Well now that’s a good straightforward question isn't it. And just for fun I thought it would be interesting to answer her question allegorically; using the same reasoning false shepherds use as they mislead born again believers just beginning to navigate their way into the Kingdom of God.
“Congratulations young lady! You have worked so hard all these months and the Driver’s License you hold in your pocket is the States acknowledgement that you are no longer bound by the Laws written in your driving manual. You are no longer obligated to stop at crosswalks when pedestrians are present. In fact, stopping for pedestrians would be considered legalism and you don’t ever want to be associated with Legalists. Your license is proof that you are under the new law of liberty. Just think of it, no need to use blinkers to signal which way you want to turn, no more speed limits, and forget about paying attention to those double yellow lines, you have been set free from the Law! Now go out and prove it to the World!”
“But wouldn't ignorance of these Laws put me and the people of my neighborhood in danger?” She asks.
“No!" Says the misguided instructor, "You must not doubt these ideas or eventually the State will take your license away! Young lady, do you remember the flag and all those crosses at the cemetery across town? Do you know how many brave men have died for you in order to set you free from the bondage of the Laws written in your driving manual?”
Now I could go on and on with this allegory but I will stop here. Anyone reading this can easily see how silly and dangerous it all sounds should this idea were to find its way into society. But strangely, obedience to the Laws (the driving manual of the Kingdom of Heaven) proclaimed on Mount Sinai are undermined each week by the very men who stand before the people holding the Bible in their hands. In matters of obedience, believers need to start believing what has been written in their Bibles and take heed to the warning written concerning the deceptions that are coming to the church. “I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality.” (Jude 1:3-4)
